ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS WHEN REMOVING WASTE
There are some rules when removing garbage. Are you familiar with MSW? Municipal Solid Waste consists of your general trash material. Everyday waste like bottles, newspapers, furniture, paint, batteries, packaging, etc. Typically, you wouldn’t need a roll off dumpster for MSW material. Many customers using our roll off dumpsters use their containers for C&D materials. Construction and demolition projects like, remodeling and roofing to building industrial facilities.
Unless arrangements have been made with your dumpster provider, a universal rule applies. Keep the following materials out of dumpsters:
- Liquids (such as pesticides, paints, wood stains, lacquers or other flammables)
- Medical waste, pesticides, asbestos, or other hazardous materials can never be put into a dumpster.
- Compostable materials such as tree branches, bushes, grass, and leaves are acceptable but require a separate container.
- Rubber Tires
- Oversized tree trunks are a safety hazard. The stumps are recommended to be cut “firewood” sized. Additional fees are susceptible in the event a stump is wedged in the container, requiring them to be dug out. Again, cut down your stumps into thirds, the more the better.

TIPS FROM YOUR LOCAL DUMPSTER MAN
What size roll off dumpster is right for you? Many differences should be considered when this question is proposed. Such as lead times, available containers, placement of the dumpster, waste material, etc. Preparation is key and your service representative will guide you through this process if necessary.
First, review our roll off dumpster dimensions to be sure your designated area of placement has enough spacing to fit a roll off dumpster. Next, take safety precautions like overhanging branches or wires. A roll off dumpster is carried from the ground roughly thirty feet to be placed onto your designated area. Dumpster companies are not liable for damage to your driveway, or damage to the surrounding area such as overhead wires. Please carefully assess a plan for your dumpster’s placement.
Consider the importance that a very heavy truck driving across your parking lot or driveway, coexists with a risk that it may cause damage to your pavement. It is best to check if the pavement is sturdy enough to support the weight of our truck and any equipment such as the dumpster itself.
In some scenarios, a dumpster is unable to be grounded anywhere else other than a public right-of-way which includes the sidewalk or street. If you find yourself in this situation, contact the city to obtain a permit or written permission. What type of waste material are you dumping into the container? Heavy materials in larger quantities should not be placed in our larger dumpsters. Consider safety concerns, Marietta’s legal road weight limit, and simply being able to recover the dumpster after your task is finished. In the waste industry, when we refer to “yards” we are referencing cubic yards.
Often, our customers give us a one to two business day notice prior to their requested delivery day. There is no limit to how far in advance you can order a dumpster. As with anything, the more notice that we receive the better it works in everyone’s favor.
Dumpster of Larger Sizes
40yd (cubic yard) containers are quite large and often ordered with inaccuracy. You should typically use these larger containers for permanent industries disposing over waste like bulky light-waste materials or recycling large quantities of cardboard.
At all costs, avoid putting materials like drywall in the larger dumpsters. If the material you are throwing away can soak up rain, the dumpster will be heavier resulting in unwanted fees and charges for exceeding the tonnage limitations.
Loading your Dumpster
The containers we provide have a swinging door for easy access. Load your dumpster with caution, it is very important to ensure all waste in the container is level with the container’s walls. Road laws enforce our drivers to tarp off the dumpster prior to removal. Effectively, these tarps prevent trash from falling out of the container during the hauling process. Drivers are unable to remove containers if the garbage in the dumpster exceeds the height of the walls.
